Viviana Iacob has recently defended her PhD thesis entitled Shakespeare performances: A Study of Socialist Realism in Romanian Theatre (1946-1964) at the University of Bucharest /Doctoral School of Literary and Cultural Studies. She has a BA in Art History and Theory from the Art History and Theory Department, National University of Arts Bucharest and an MA in Theatre History from Illinois State University (2005 – 2007) carried out with the support of a Junior Fulbright Scholarship. She was a recipient of a research grant from the Ministry of Education and Research (2011 – 2014) and a POSDRU research grant awarded by The Romanian Academy between August 2014 and September 2015. In 2012 she received the Visegrad Grant from the Open Society Archive and Central European University. Within the project Turning Global: Socialist Experts during the Cold War she researches performance as a transnational phenomenon.
